Miracle Job

I am happy to announce that I began working with the Florida Disabled Outdoors Association as the Miracle League Coordinator this Monday. It is a part-time position that gives me the responsibility of coordinating the actual game play, doing a little fundraising, and rounding up volunteers. I am excited about it!

The Miracle League is a hidden gem in Tallahassee that we are fortunate to have discovered when we first moved back in 2009. It is an athletic league that is designed with inclusion in mind. For many people, participating in baseball or soccer is nearly impossible due to the playing surface and their dependence on assistive devices for mobility. This is where the Miracle League comes in, specifically the Miracle Field.

Where Turner Field has crushed brick, the Miracle Field has rubber. Where The Trop has synthetic grass, the Miracle Field has rubber. That means that wheelchairs, gait trainers, power chairs, and tennis shoes can all manuever on that field, and that means inclusion! We have been blessed watching all four of our boys participate together alongside other kids (and adults) from the Tallahassee area. Now, I consider it a great privilege to be on the team to see this opportunity shared with even more families.

Inclusion is the product of awareness + thoughtfulness + resourcefulness and thankfully the city of Tallahassee has put it all together to build this fantastic venue. Your city can do! All that is needed is a caring, passionate person to make it happen. Maybe you are that person?

If you are in the Tallahassee area and would like to get involved, please let me know. Volunteers make it happen! You can print a volunteer form HERE.

If you are in the Tallahassee area and would like to participate or if you know a family who would like to participate please let me know that too. We serve families affected by Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome, blindness, etc. and our goal is to include everybody! You can print a registration form HERE.

  1. Great News Ryan! I know you’ll do a wonderful job. Caedmon is lucky to have you as his father (as are all your boys!). Keep us posted!
